Thank you to everyone who participated in or supported the 2011 Rochester Hospice Regatta, hosted by Rochester Yacht Club on August 19-20. This wonderful event invites sailors to set sail and compete vigorously, while it also encourages us to celebrate the lives of loved ones who have died.

Through Rochester's 13 Hospice Regattas, almost $600,000 has been raised to assist Lifetime Care Hospice in relieving the suffering of terminally ill patients and providing compassionate support to their families. The thousands of people who benefit each year from these services are grateful for this generous support.

Congratulations to John Doyle and the crew of "Out of the Blue," which finished first overall in the Spinnaker Fleet to win the Hospice Regatta trophy. Congratulations, too, to Bob Spencer and the crew of "Playtime" for finishing first overall in the Genoa Only Fleet.
